    Yeast Infections
Yeast infections are a common and recurrent feminine complaint. Studies have shown that an increase of estrogen can cause yeast to multiply. This is why many women become more prone to yeast infections prior to or after menstruation and during pregnancy. Other factors such as antibiotics, alcohol, sugar and processed foods can also upset the delicate balance of a woman’s system resulting in yeast overgrowth.

Yeast infections (Candidiasis) are caused by Candida albicans, a common variety of yeast that lives in everyone’s body. Yeast flourishes in warm, moist places and most infections are found in the mouth and vagina. The yeast is harmless in the quantities normal found in healthy people; but under certain conditions yeast can multiply, rapidly resulting in an infection.

Yeast infections have a myriad of symptoms that may include: fatigue, depression, headaches, irritability, menstrual problems, skin rashes, muscle and joint pain, digestive disorders and respiratory problems.

Tips For Staying Clear of Yeast Infections...

  • Take 500 mg of Vitamin C daily to increase the acidity of the vagina and provide an unfriendly environment for yeast growth.
  • Take boric acid sitz baths. Add three tablespoons of boric acid to six inches of water in the tub.
  • Decrease sweets. Yeast actually feeds on glucose that sweet foods (natural and refined sugars included) can add to your bloodstream.
  • Take acidophilus supplements. Acidophilus will add good bacteria to your system to combat yeast overgrowth.
  • Capyrylic Acid and Pau D’Arco have antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory agents that naturally help fight infections such as yeast.
  • Chlorophyll Concentrate is a natural deodorant that helps with the gas and bloating which may accompany a yeast infection.

ad bacteria can inhibit the body’s response to fight off infections such as yeast. Acidophilus adds good bacteria to your system and helps balance the levels of friendly and unfriendly bacteria. Nutrition Now’s Yeast Defense combines the highest potency acidophilus with herbs (caprylic acid, Pau d’Arco, deodorized garlic, grapefruit seed extract, chlorophyll) to help combat the symptoms of yeast.
