February 08, 1998 - Yogic exercises for Bronchial Asthma

As an adjuvent to any therapy for chronic bronchial asthma with emphysematous lungs (chest).

Following exercises taken regularly are found effective in 70% of chronic pulmonary failure diagnosed on spirometric reports. Such patients should join an authentic yoga institute and learn the technique of the following postures or kriyas:--

1) Kunjal :- one of the yogic satkriyas is advised once a month

2) Chanting:-- AUM mantra for a fortnight , three times a day.

3) Pranayam:-

Purak:- for three minutes (inhaling the air or deep inspiration)

Kumbhak:-- holding the breath for three minutes.

Rechak:-exhalng the air out for three minutes. (increase by one minute every week till six minutes).

Bahikumbhaka :-- Three minutes.

4) Bhujangasana once half a minute per day.

5) Chanting of Gayafri mantra once week under expert supervision A remarkable improvement is noticed in patients suffering from chronic asthma and emphysema after going through this programme.
