- Treatment of Alopecia by Unani Medicine

A boy aged 14 years was alopetic since last 3 years without any apparent reason. Investigations revealed low serum Zn levels (61 ug/100ml)
In this patient ZINC SULPHATE was administered in doses of 70 mg thrice daily after meals with plenty of water. At the beginning of the therapy even eye lashes and eyebrows were absent in this boy.
After two months of treatment, dark coloured hair started appearing on patient’s scalp, eyelashes and eyebrows re-appeared and first growth of pubic hair was seen.
Six months later whole scalp was covered with thin hair and at the end of one year head was covered with hair of normal thickness.
Improvement in alopecia was accompanied with gain in height and body weight.
