Welcome to Grimsby, my birth place and home for the first 18 years of my life!
Grimsby is a town (once the greatest fishing port in England) which lies on the North East coast of England in the county of Lincolnshire.
As the names of it's towns and villages suggests Lincolnshire was one of the areas most heavily influenced by the Danes and the Vikings on their many incursions
into the post-Roman Britain. The name Grimsby came from the Danish - "Grim" (Danish man's name) and "by" (Danish for city).
= "Grims City" / Grimsby!
I have two brothers, Scott and Lee and a sister, Gail. Check out the cute picture of us (Scott wasn't born yet) when we were little ;-).
I'm the one in the middle - aren't we just adorable??
I spent my teenage years ice- and roller-skating at the local leisure centre. Summers were spent at the beach: Skegness or Mablethorpe......
Oh! how I remember those summers, family picnics, strawberry picking trips and of course - strolling along the promenade and eating freshly made, hot doughnuts.... Mmmmm! :)
I can't have this page on Grimsby without showing you a picture of my best friend Yvonne Elmes (nee Olsen). Yvonne and I met when we were 12 yrs old and attending Whitgift School. We have been friends ever since.
Yvonne is on your left and I'm on your right.
Oop's, I can't forget about Yvonne's luvly hubby! Hi Richard!
I left Grimsby at the sweet age of 18 and headed for Stavanger (Norway). I worked in Norway as a Nanny for several years - until the travel bug caught hold of me again, and then I was off to "Sail The Seven Seas"..... Well, more or less?!
