Introduction : Tips : Getting the Support you need

GETTING THE SUPPORT YOU NEED

The Lapband is a life-changing procedure which you need to work hard at making a success and which has the potential to affect a number of different areas in your life.

You can try to cope alone, but you don’t have to! There are a number of specialists and support group members around who are there to help.

In fact, you are likely to be more successful if you take advantage of these resources.

Remember to take advantage of their expertise. Ask lots of questions, use them to bounce your ideas off. You should always talk openly and honestly about any concerns, experiences or problems.

The following is a list of people you will either meet as part of the lapband procedure or can access after surgery who can help you maximise the effectiveness of the band.

Where appropriate, we have listed the names and contact details of specialists, not associated with the clinics, which other Lapbanders have found helpful.
