Butterscotch Refrigerator Cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 tsp vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. When well blended, add the egg, then the dry ingredients. When uniform, blend in the nuts and vanilla. Shape the dough into a roll, about 2 inches in diameter and wrap in wax paper. Chill overnight in a refrigerator. Bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
