Pfeffernusse

Recipe taken from Treasury of Holiday Recipes, 1996.

Ingredients:

3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground cardamon
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup dark molasses
1 egg
powdered sugar

Grease cookie sheets. Place flour, baking powder, cinnaomn, ginger, baking soda, salt, cloves, cardamon and pepper in a large bowl, stir to combine. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer. Beat in molasses and egg. Gradually add flour mixture. Beat at low speed until dough forms. Wrap dough in plastic wrap; refrigerate until firm. Preheat oven to 350F. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown. Dust with sifted powdered sugar.
