Pfeffernusse II

Recipe taken from Cooking Light.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp baking cloves
1/4 cup butter, softened
3 Tblsp dark brown sugar
2 Tblsp granulated sugar
2 Tblsp water
1 large egg white
1/4 cup ground hazelnuts
powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350F, and spray cookis sheets with PAM. Place flour and next six ingredients in a large bowl and blend well with a whisk.

Place butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar in a large bowl and beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended, about 4 minutes. Add 2 Tblsp water and the egg white to butter mixture, beat well. Add the flour mixture and nuts; beat on low speed just until blended. The batter will be very moist and tacky. Spoon batter evenly into 18 mounds (about 2 tsp each) about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.

Bake for 12 minutes or until lightly browned and almost set. Cool on [pans 2 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Sprinkle cookies with powdered sugar.
