Sauteed Apples with Cream & Cardamom

This recipe was taken from 1992 Food & Wine Collection.

Ingredients:

2 Tblsp unsalted butter
4 large Golden Delicious apples; peeled, cored and thinely sliced
3 Tblsp sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
2 Tblsp chopped walnuts

In a large skillet, melt the butter over high heat. Add the apples, sprinkle with sugar and cook, stirring frequently until the apples have carmelized, 10-12 minutes. If the apples begin to burn, reduce the heat. Reduce the heat to moderate. Add the cream and cardamom and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat slightly and simmer fo 1 minute. Sprinkle with walnuts and serve immediately. For variety, this dessert can be served over the top of vanilla ice cream
