One of the best Japanese restaurant in town. Reservation is recommended.

Nadaman, Shangri-La Hotel.
Again, one of the best Japanese restaurant in town. Reservation is recommended. Ordering a la carte especially on shashimi may blow your budget.

 Dontaku Japanese Restaurant
This Japanese restaurant is one of few restaurant that specialised in Japanese skewers and serves pork. We have tried their beef skewer, asparagus with bacon skewer, pork wrapped with eggs, dumpling, noodle and find them not bad.

Gin Ryu Tei, Mid Valley Megamall
A small Japanese restaurant serves a good home made ramen and value for money set menu. Their snow crab and lobster set at $200 for 3/4 persons is value for money. The lobster set include lobster shashimi or teppanyaki or both, sushi and ramen. Reservation is recommeded for weekend and this restaurant is non-halal.

Sagano, Renaissance Hotel.
Tried their Sunday buffet lunch at RM59++. Choise include shashimi (salmon, tuna and octopus only), shusi, teppanyaki, tempura, etc; however, sabu-sabu is not available.

An economical alternative for Japanese foods.

Saisaki Japanese Buffet.
Saisaki is a popular chain restaurant in Manila, Philippines serving Japanese buffets range from sushi, tempura to teppanyaki. For the range of Japanese food available at Rm38 per person for lunch is not bad value for money and sushi is fresh.

Keyaki, Pan Pacific Hotel.
We visited this restaurant for dinner. For three (3) persons, we ordered California rolls, Shashimi, Unagi, Shishamo (fried pregnant fish), Lobster/seafood teppanyaki set and Yosenabe (seafood, chicken, udon and veg cooked in hot pot). Portions is larger than normal but taste is below par.

 Nanbantei Restaurant, Concorde Hotel.
A small hotel restuarant specialised in Japanese skewers. We had their special course which include shashimi, variety of skewers (eg asparagus wrapped in beef, chicken wing, meat ball, salmon, etc), salmon flake rice, soup and dessert. The skewers are fine but the shashimi is below expectation.

 Oh Sushi, Midvally Megamall
A non-halal restaurant. We ordered Japanese skewers (asparagus with bacon), puri puri sausages, ramen, sushi set and unagi bento. May be because of large crowds, we find the food unexceptional.

Teppanyaki, MidValley Megamall.
This restaurant is specialised in teppanyaki and is popular for their cheap price. We find their teppanyaki more like Malaysian style fried on flat grill and the vinegared rice on their california roll is just not right, hence should not be considered as Japanese experience. However, we find their ice kacang with fine shaved ice pretty good.

Their price is relatively cheap and quality is okay.

Ganji, Petaling Jaya Hilton.
This restaurant was re-opened in March 97 after relocated to the new wing with a bigger seating capacity. The ambient is relax and posh. This restaurant continue to be the most popular in this part of town and we recommend reservation. We took shashimi, sabu-sabu and teppanyaki for dinner.

Keyaki Restaurant, Pan Pacific Glenmarie.
This restaurant was added to the hotel in 1996, so is new. We had shashimi, tempura and teppanyaki for dinner. We find their shashimi excellent and believe to be the best in this part of the town. However, service can be slow when the place is half full in the evening.

A small Japanese restaurant patron mostly by Japanese. We find their ramen is pretty good and the set menu is value for money.

Miyako, Sheraton Subang.
We savoured their shashimi, sushi, california rolls, tempura, etc for lunch. We find the tuna shashimi excellent and the rest is on par with their pricing.

Kogetsu, Hyatt Saujana.
We visited this restaurant for dinner; we had tempura, seafood teppenyaki, shaishimi and unagi. We find the food as expected in establishment like this but as this restaurant is facing the man made lake, hence has an excellent environment.

A good Japanese restaurant. Their set lunch is value for money.

Chikuyo-tei, Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel.
A branch of Chikuyo-tei in Kuala Lumpur. We ordered chikuyo-zen, extra shashimi and hot sake for dinner. Chikuyo-zen is their inhouse set dinner which come with starter, simmer vegetable, clear soup, shashimi, tempura, unagi (eel) and fruit. Somehow, their shashimi can't beat Pan Pac.
Note: As of May 98, they are closed for 'renovation'.

An average price Japanese restaurant managed by a Japanese manager with efficient servers. Their set lunch is value for money.

Seki Tei, Holiday Villa.
As one of the first Japanese restaurant in this part of town, this restaurant is quite popular in the evening. We had tried shashimi, sushi, sukiyaki, tempura and teppanyaki at this place. We like their macha (green tea) ice cream because it is not too sweet. But we find their price and food quality doesn't match.

Inaka-Tei, Concorde Inn, Sepang.
This inn was built for construction of KLIA. In the past, this restaurant serves only below par food, but the recent price revision really put the price far higher than 5 star hotel in KL.
