Volume 6 Series 44 | March/April, 1998 |
T he Board of Directors has forwarded notices to all of the homeowners in the Gate Post II Homeowners' Association to invite them to the Annual Meeting on April 28, 1998 at 7:00pm at the Fort Hill Building at the corner of Highways 28 and 29. The meeting will begin at 7:30pm and run for approximately two hours. There will be two speakers and perhaps a third. They will be Michael Frey, Supervisor for the Sully District, and Ronald Koch, Director of the Fairfax County Plan Commission. At this writing we are also inviting Tom Williamson of the Fairfax County Public Schools, Division of Maintenance and Development. One of the important issues that will be addressed is the construction of a new elementary school that will be built directly adjacent to the southern boundary of the Gate Post Estates development. A concern that has recently developed is whether the access road from Compton Road to the school will possibly intersect with the intended plans of a builder to develop the land immediately behind homes on Bronze Post. The school was considering building a road that would parallel the Bronze Post properties' southern boundary. A major concern is that this road might connect to a new road to he named Tan Post that would be used to provide access for three new homes being built in that same area. If these two roads intersect, this could allow traffic from Compton to cut through Gate Post |
Estates to Highway 29. While Fairfax County schools maintenance and development division has indicated it would not construct a road that intersected Gate Post Estates so as to allow through traffic from Compton Road to 29, we would like more definitive assurances than simply a verbal statement from the Fairfax County Public Schools. As most people are aware, this development fought to close Blue Post because of a severe safety hazard that developed when traffic was allowed to flow from Compton to 29. I highly recommend that all concerned homeowners attend the annual meeting to listen and question county officials regarding this matter as well as other issues related to the location of the school. The annual meeting will commence at approximately 8:30pm after the speakers have concluded their remarks and will last until approximately 9:30pm. |
