Beef Stir-Fry With Peppers

Ingredients

1 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 c water
1/4 c light soy sauce
1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
1 tsp Chinese chili sauce
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 kg beef round steak or sirloin steak, cut crosswise into thin strips
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 fresh hot red chili, seeded, thinly sliced
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, cut into thin strips
1 green bell pepper, cut into thin strips
1 yellow bell pepper, cut into thin strips

Method

In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in the water. Stir in soy sauce, honey and chili sauce until blended. Set aside.

Heat a wok until very hot. Add vegetable oil and swirl to coat wok. Add beef strips and stir-fry 2 or 3 minutes or until beef is browned. With a slotted spoon, remove beef to a bowl.

Add sesame oil to the wok and add garlic and chili. Stir-fry 1 minute or until fragrant. Add onion and bell pepper strips and stir-fry 2 or 3 minutes or until beginning to soften. Serve with rice.
