Picadillo

Ingredients

1 kg minced beef or a mixture of minced beef and pork
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2 apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1 tbsp chopped jalapeno chillis
1/2 kg tomatoes, peeled, deseeded, chopped
1/2 c raisins
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp geound cumin
salt and pepper
2 tbsp oil
1/4 c toasted slivered almonds, for garnish

Method

Heat the oil in a pan and add the onion, garlic and beef. Cook till the beef is brown.

Add the apples and the remaining ingredients. Cook, uncovered, for about 20-25 min, stirring occasionally till beef is tender.

Garnish with toasted almonds. Serve hot with rice or tortillas.
