He emigrated to Canada on October 30,1903. He worked in the bar in the Lund Hotel in Lund BC Canada and then he started commercial fishing. The Me was the name of his boat. He met 5Nanni Kangas in Lund who had come over from Finland. They were married on June 28, 1911 in Vancouver BC Canada.

Johan Oskar Roos died on July 22, 1962 at age 78 in Okeover Arm, Powell River, BC
