Hua-Hin lies about 180
kilometrers south of Bangkok.
The road from Bangkok
passes through tropical landscape abundant with palm trees. Distant
mountains from the natural boundary between Thailand and Burma,
a mere 60 kilometres away.
The gentle undulating
countryside is the foothills provides the ideal terrain for the
championship golf courses which are easily accessible from Hua -
Hin and the beachside resorts.
First impression of Hua
- Hin are later confirmed, in that this seaside resort is indeed
quite different from any other in Thailand.
This ideal location was
first discovered in the early 1920's when the newly constructed
southern railway line.
Prince Parachatra, who
was then Director General of the state railways, built the first
hotel in Hua - Hin. The Grandeur of "colonial" design
with it's spacious verandas and solid teak doors still provide elegance
for guests to enjoy today. The Sofitel Central can certainly justify
it's motto of
"Heritage of Yesterday
Today
Today"
In 1926 His Majesty King
Prajadhipok (King Rama VII) built his summer palace on the beach
and named it Klai Kangwon - "Far From Worries".
The summer palace continues
to be one of the official holiday residences of their Majesties,
the King and Queen of Thailand.
At the turn of the century
Hua - Hin was a small fishing village, surrounded by agricultural
area producing a wide variety of tropical delights. The area is
reputed to be one of the best for growing pineapples and many other
exotic fruits which are readily available in the local markets.
Hua - Hin is now the
haven of thai society where the tourist are always welcome on the
hotels and guesthouse with courtesy and low prices.
Courtesy and friendly
atmosphere are also our motto
