Miscellaneous Notes
We were quite unanimous regarding Italy but we sure weren't sure about the fact that all wines were made of the grape varitey Nebbiolo. The styles differed quite a lot. The Paolo Scavino had a huge bouquet filled with smoke and an overwhelming aroma of freshly ground coffe. Gaja's Sperss and the Valtellina were quite similiar on the palate - intensive, complex, well balanced and a touch of sweetness with long, nice, "alcoholic" after taste. The Cá Bianca was the looser in this company; it appeared to be hollow and unbalanced.

All in all, this was a great tasting; really some superb wines that showed us what can be done with the Nebbiolo!
