"Double J" Jeff Jarrett vs. The Ultimate Warrior
Date: May 19, 1997 Card: Monday Night Raw Site: Corestates Center; Philadelphia, PA
This match would be my final title Intercontinental title defense, win OR lose, before I headed out for Hollywood. The Warrior had worked his way into the #2 contender spot, and I was obligated to defend my belt against him. But should I win, I would have to give the title up a few weeks later.
The match took place on the legendary Championship Raw, and Warrior was the better man that night. I'm kinda glad he won, since not only was he deserving of the title, but then I didn't have to hold up the title for yet another tournament.
The match was loaded with people, as Corey Major did his best to keep the match free from interference, due to the Blizzard shootin' off his mouth backstage that he'd cost Warrior the match. Well, nobody had a shot of getting involved in this one, and what resulted was a classic encounter.
