Dale is married to Niki Watson and the couple have a daughter named Rachel Cain. The family has several pets: a cat named Sarah, dog named Bell, ferret named Timone, and a hamster named Tiki Tiki Timbo No Sa Rembo Tari Bari Ruche Tic Perri Pembo.
Dale met Niki in Los Angeles while she was on a photo shoot.
Dale lives in Austin, Texas. His hobbies are working on and riding old motorcycles (Triumph TR6), listening to music, and photography.
One of Dale's first jobs was with Shasta Beverage in Houston. He worked on the assembly line packaging Shasta beverages, also as a forklift driver. Dale was 18 at the time. Dale has also worked as a dishwasher at the Hilton and also had a "real job" pumping gas at a Phillips 66 service station. At 12 years old Dale wrote his first song "Marcella". He wrote this song about a girl he liked named Marcella. She never heard the song and when asked for some of the lyrics I was told "NO it was awful".

Dale was 15 the first time he played on stage. This gig was with his brothers Jim and Donny at Genoa Cove in Pasadena. Often times you could find him playing at the Lucky Lady, also in Pasadena. I asked Dale about this first performance and he said "I was not scared I was more nervous than anything." Dale has a strong musical backgroud. His father was a published song writer and musician, and his brothers Jim and Donny are musicians as well. Dale's first paying gig was at The Waterhole in Deerpark Texas at age 16. In 1988 Dale played guitar for the house band at the Plamino club, in California.
Dale's musical influences are his father Donald Joe Watson Sr., Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Lefty Frizzell, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Dale's favorite guitar is a Fender Telecaster G&L ASAT classic. When I asked Dale what music he was currently listening to he went to the 8 track and said "Truckin' songs", then to the record player and said "Lefty", to the cassette and said "Ernest Tubb", and finally to the CD and said "Johnny Cash".The name of Dale's band is the "Lonestars".
