A few random sports thoughts...

(Nyack, October 24, 1999) I almost wish I were a Red Sox or Met fan this year. Both of these teams were really fun and exciting to watch. Of course watching your team in the Series is better.

So Knobby is going to see a hypnotist this year. I'll bet he wont field any better next year. Maybe if the hypnotist gives him a post hypnotic suggestion to cluck and walk like a chicken every time he gets a ground ball it would at least be funny.

I hereby change the Rocket's nickname. It is now the Roman Candle. Cause of the way he gets lit up all the time.

Hideki Irabu was supposed to be the Nolan Ryan of Japan. They must have been measuring kilometers per hour.

Speaking of Hideki, he looks more like the Doyle Alexander of Japan.

The Yanks are the Borg of the post season. Every time they start a series you can just hear the other team thinking "Resistance is Futile".

Stews Sports Thoughts Stews Sports Thoughts Stews Sports Thoughts Stews Sports Thoughts

The Yanks do not really have that much post season experience. They don't play many post season games because they sweep all the time.

(Nyack, August 10, 1999) After this Dodger series it looks like that Met steamroller might be about to become a steam rollover.

I know I kid the beantown boys a lot about the Red Sox but they really are pretty good. For a small market team.

If Pedro Martinez could pitch every 2nd day, the Red Sox would be a real threat.

Mikey (No Hands) Stew went out and hit a bucket of balls yesterday. Actually managed to hit about 4 or 5 pretty good shots. Out of 70. Hey! It's a start.

In all seriousness, without discounting what the Mets have done recently, I think we need to see what they do against some teams with records over .500 before we fly that pennant banner. I do not believe they have played a single team with an over .500 record since the break.

I love Safeco Field. With the trains in the outfield it reminds me of Brewsters Millions. And the Yanks swept four there.

With all the talk about how the Yanks are not living up to last year, I believe we need to realize one thing. They have the best record in Baseball.

Where has the Weasel gone. Am I now the only contributing Yankee fan?

(Nyack, July 28, 1999) Sorry Red Sox fans but the Yanks lead is now 7 1/2 games over the Blue Jays.

More bad news for Sox fans. Pedro will fade and the Cy Young award will go to David Cone.

Rocket had a great game over the Indians last week. Let's see him do it again.

Kenny Rogers is back in New York again and pitched a beaut the other day. Looks like he can pitch in New York after all. Just not on the big stage.

Knobby has been throwing the ball better these days. Now he has trouble catching it. Then again, that takes care of the need to throw it.

Remember, it was me who predicted the Mets would take the N.L. East. They have more heart than the Braves. Unless they turn into pussies again in September like they did last year.

The Yanks have a new way to platoon left field. Spencer and Ledee just take turns getting injured while the other one plays. Not your typical lefty-righty platoon but it works for me.

Deevy is the best skier in Boston. At least he was the best on his boat last week. Quarter rides a hell of a tube though. Johnny B. gets honorable mention for both events. And I lived vicariously better than any of them.

Jessie (The Body) Ventura is now a total American hero.

That French guy the Knicks picked over Ron Artest is supposed to be a work in progress. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

JB's Retaliation...

(Boston, July 30, 1999) Sorry Red Sox fans but the Yanks lead is now 7 1/2 games over the Blue Jays.

Yeah, well, y'know, just sayin'...

More bad news for Sox fans. Pedro will fade and the Cy Young award will go to David Cone.

Dream on...

Rocket had a great game over the Indians last week. Let's see him do it again.

If he's that bad, we'll take him back...

Kenny Rogers is back in New York again and pitched a beaut the other day. Looks like he can pitch in New York after all. Just not on the big stage.

Darn good chicken, though...

Knobby has been throwing the ball better these days. Now he has trouble catching it. Then again, that takes care of the need to throw it.

We'll take him as well...

Remember, it was me who predicted the Mets would take the N.L. East. They have more heart than the Braves. Unless they turn into pussies again in September like they did last year.

Make up your mind, Mikey Stew: do you want your ass kicked by the Braves or Mike Piazza???

Deevy is the best skier in Boston. At least he was the best on his boat last week. Quarter rides a hell of a tube though. Johnny B. gets honorable mention for both events. And I lived vicariously better than any of them.

Can't argue that - and the official JB prediction is that Mikey "NoHands" Stew (#1 in boneage in '99) will be in the running in the year 2000...

Jessie (The Body) Ventura is now a total American hero.

(Though Carlos, Robin, and Ace will have his lunch and eat it too...)

That French guy the Knicks picked over Ron Artest is supposed to be a work in progress. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

Quest ce que c'est???

Mikey's Final Word...

(Nyack, August 3, 1999) We would be willing to give you the Rocket back but the Sox have nothing to trade. Except Pedro.

If their were a way to work it out the Yanks would be glad to kick the Braves and Piazza's asses.

I hope the Yanks don't have to play Toronto in the playoffs. The Yanks have beaten Toronto every time this year including David Wells three times. I still do not want to have to face Wells 2 times in a short series. He is a big game pitcher.

By the way, the Yanks lost 2 to the Red Sox because they were looking ahead the the Blue Jay series. And because the Rocket sucks.

Bad excuse - Clemens left with a 5-3 lead. Give the Sox a little credit for heaven's sake - after all the Yanks are still 5-6 games up. After getting crushed in the first game they battled and prevailed in the next two. For whatever reason, the Sox have excelled against the good teams this year, and now have a 5-4 edge on the Yanks, with 3 to play at the Stadium. Just sayin'... --JB
