Verolen Kersey
(He's the one holdin' the Bass)
Acoustic Bass, Electric Bass, Mandolin, Vocals,
and Tuba... (yes Tuba). VK is a rare
talent who has the ability to blend in with a variety of
musical styles. Originally from sunny California,
"John Jorgenson and VK's wife attended the same high
school", Verolen is a professional piano tuner and
re-builder, as well as, a veteran of the US Air Force
Band Program, where he passionately served his country in
four tours of duty. While in the AF, VK performed in
rock, country, bluegrass, traditional-Sousa concert, and
marching bands. He has several studio recording sessions
to his credit with country, bluegrass, and gospel
artists. Most notably, Bob Kilpatrick(California-based
Christian entertainer), Wild Blue Country, Kenny Beard,
and was the only band leader that the popular Front
Range-based band "F-Troop" ever had.
Darin Black
(He's the only one left!)
Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals, and Kazoosaphone (don't ask... just come see a show!). DB began the pickin'
and grinnin' stage of his career in 1974. While in junior
high school, Darin, accompanied by a fellow musician, won
a talent contest by performing John Denver's
"Looking for Space". DB has a real love for
music undoubtedly because he was a member of three
award-winning Jazz Choirs while in junior high. Most
notable during that era was the Rocky Mountain Singers, a
nationally recognized and awarded classical troup of 28
performers. Darin continued his love of music by playing
guitar in the Dixieland Jazz band of high school, leading
singing services for high school and college groups, AND
had the pleasure of being asked to sing our Nation's
National Anthem while going through basic training in the
Air Force. Before joining The StringDudes, Darin was a
vocalist and guitarist for the highly acclaimed
"Redemption Society" Christian-performance
group.
