If you don't know that America is the land of supply and demand, you're in for a rude awakening. During Fan Fair week, hotel room rates double (or worse), as the city's hostelries cash in on the sudden influx of visitors wanting to rest their weary heads between shows.
With this in mind, you should try to share rooms as much as possible. Most hotels charge for a room on a double occupancy basis and charge small surcharges for additional guests: three people sharing a room may only cost $5 or $10 more per night than the advertised double rate. From experience, I'd say that staying in the plushest hotel in town is a waste of money for the average Fan Fair attendee: let's face it, you'll be in your room a few hours a night to sleep, get a shower in the morning and you'll be out all day. On that basis, any standard motel is going to surfice. The places nearest to the Fairgrounds and nearest to Downtown are going to fill up first, so make a reservation early. And I mean early. Book months in advance, rather than weeks. See Advice for more about using the Internet. |
