Many of the Sons of the Desert knew Larry Fitter. Larry founded The Babes in Toyland Tent
of St. Louis in 1980, and shepherded it through its growth years. In the late 1990s
Larry's arthritis and back pain made it impossible for him to continue as
Grand Sheik, but Larry continued to attend tent meetings as much as he
could. On Tuesday, November 16, 2004, Larry Fitter passed away.
Losing Larry is like losing a father. The tent members feel the same
bittersweet, sad flow of emotions--sad at knowing we'll see Larry
at no more meetings, but sweet from the memories of the many
good times and good friends we've made because he
founded the tent and nurtured it.
None of those good things would have happened without Larry.
