Day 1 and 2
The Adventure Begins

Pam......
We left Athabasca on Thursday the 14th at noon and drove through drizzle to Mackenzie, B.C.  We visited with Erin, Michael and the grandkiddies till Saturday morning then hit the road by 9:30.  Doug and I borrowed our friends tent, stove, coffee pot and foam mattresses.  My Goal since this was a cheapo holiday was to camp wherever.  Our car was full to the rooftops.

The Mackenzie Family Doug.......
The whole Mackenzie family is standing here. Left to right is me, Sean (our 14 year old grandson), Mike (our new son in-law), Erin (our daughter), Alisha (our new 9 year old grandaughter) and front and short in the center is Pam.
We are standing in front of the Recreation center in beautiful downtown Mackenzie. All around us for miles is forests, lakes and mountains. During the spring there are quite a few Grizzly bears come into town but they don't create too much trouble.
There is a road to the top of the mountain in the distance, and one summer when Pam and the kids and I lived in town we drove to the top and frolicked in the snow. I could have spent days up there enjoying the scenery and driving around but the kids were scared and Pam was upset about me driving over the cliff so we had to come back down, Geez,,,, me drive over a cliff,,,never :o) Mackenzie is world famous for the size and ferocity of it's Mosquitoes but they were scarce this day.
