if you are here, that means you probably know my name, if you just happen to end up here by pure coincidence
then allow me to introduce myself. My name is Edison, I was born in Ecuador on the 4th day of the 4th month. 04/04
I think of it as my lucky number, but at the sametime let me say that I am not a big believer of luck. I rather believe
that eveything that we get that we achieve is the result of a process that requires effort and dedication.
I grew up in Cuenca, it is the third largest city in Ecuador, nowdays there are about half million people living there,
statistically, it is the city that has the highest emigration rate in Southamerica, to give you an example, most of the
guys the guys that I knew in my childhood are here in NY. It is a bit funny that whenever I go there I feel like a
stranger.. people would be asking where am I from :). Moving on, I left this city when I was 17. I have been in the USA
for over 12 years now, and what ride it has been.
At 17, I was someone with a desire to do something positive with my life but without the tools to do it. I mean, the
average 17 year old is probably on his/her way to college to pursue his academic endevours and his/her main plan is to
graduate and ultimately have a nice life afterwards. Well, not everybody gets it that easy. My first year in the USA
I spent it working the hardway, long days, low pay. My plans of even learning English were vanishing as the money I was
paying to learn it. you can say that at this point I was not going anywhere. At that time, little I knew nor I
could imagine what the future had in store for me. continue
