I believe that every person has the a great potential, not just in magickal adeptness, but in all things. I have noticed that people close themsleves off to this potential, whether through social training, self-imposed limitations or upbringing.
In general, people are taught at an early age what is socially acceptable and what is not. This create stigmas toword many things that may be natural: sexual desires, self expression, self gratification, etc. These blocks pose limits and the limits keep you from reaching your true potantial. The same goes for limiations self impossed by fear and upbringing.
To realize your potential, you must open yourself up. This may take hours, days, weeks, or even years. It takes self-retrospect, exploration and honesty. You must find all of your limits, then break them. Then remake your limits, then break them again. Continue this process until you have no more limits. You will find that there are things that you cannot bring yourself to do, no matter how hard you try. You will find that either you have no desire to do them, or you physically cannot bring yourself to do them. You must make sure that it is not your 'programming' that isn't allowing you to do these things.
Ask yourself the following questions:
Do you feel fear? Do you feel guilt? Do you feel shame? If you feel any of these emotions, you are probably falling back on old limitations. People are made to feel guilty about going outside societies norms, their upbringing, and even by their own ego. These feelings are what you trained yourself to feel when you went outside of these specifications as a child. Do not fear 'fire and brimstone' or being grounded or being ostricized by those around you. Be proud of you you are! The Divine will not punish you for your growth as a spiritual being.
Do you know a quote off the top of your head that keeps you from breaking the limit? Do you try to emulate someone else in your actions? If tyou are doing these things, then your limit is being set by an outside dogma. Don't be afraid to come up with your own rules for yourself. Don't get me wrong here, i am not telling you to break all dogma. You should not let breaking your limits interfere with anyone's life but your own. Don't go after rules just to break them. You are not trying to redefine anyone's limits but your own. Breaking limits does not mean rebellion, it means self-revelation. Revel in your being!
Are you experiancing greed? a 'biological clock'? Changes in your body? These are things that can affect you and your mind set. Like social blocks, we must try to control out 'natural' instincts. These changes, although sometimes physical, are just another part of our programming. Yes, puberty sucks. Yes, menopause sucks. But they are natural. Don't forget that part of breaking your limits is to go beyond these things. Put them out of you mind, or, better yet, go deeper into them. Embrace these changes as part of your spiritual growth. Become one with your primal self. Understand it, then deny it. Experience both sides of the coin. Figure out where you fit in between these two sides.
Once you have broken all of your limits, think about what you found. Who are you? What experiences made you feel alive? Scared? Happy? What did you learn from all of this?
The point of all of this is not to find out what you can do, but what you have> to do. Find the things your soul yerns for. Make your own rules. Find your truth. Your potential, your gifts will become blatent during this time of self-exploration. Discover that you are powerful. There is one thing in this world that everyone has that makes them powerful, a Divine soul and unique perspective. Find the gift which sets you apart and makes you unique, embrace it. Your potential is waiting to be found inside of you.
When you find your potential, you are one step closer to finding your true self. You are one step closer to being one with yourself. You are one step closer to finding your true soul path; finding your Open Road.
