Donalee's Roost

Dennis and Lynn have been on "one long continuous date" (as per Dennis) for about a year now. You can check out his page and Lynn's page.

Got the scoop straight from Dennis: (I edited it a bit)

"Now, I think this is what you wanted to know...

Love story notes:

I found Lynn in a search of aol members' info while looking for my former boss' email address on aol as well. His last name is Lynn, and as I was looking for the name "Lynn" in members data, literally hundreds of Lynns showed up as a result. So I just started selecting them to see if any were him. When I found the profile for Lynn, it was as simple as "(Her) Age, divorced, preschool teacher" and that she enjoyed chatting on the web, and other such member stuff from aol. No last name, no personal description, just a gal.

I emailed her as simply as:(and this is pasted from the original email)(1-30-97)

Hi, Lynn,

This is only an introductory note for your response. My name is Dennis.....I'm in Moodus and this is my homepage address. If you would like to correspond, and maybe have some fun, write back. If not, please write back and express that also.

Bye for now....Dennis Ward
(end)

Lynn and I continued emailing for awhile, sharing a few things about our lives and internet activities, much the same way you and I sent jokes around, and chatted during the earlier part of '97.

I had always wondered if she was interested in meeting me....

After a while, we finally decided to meet for a lunch, (early August). We each seemed to think we were nice (as it would be considered by almost anybody meeting for the first time).

Second meeting....we went together to a PC fair. (Good place for me to behave like a computer geek). She had never been to one, and I was still buying parts, still not really a date tho.

Real date.......Aug. 30, dinner and an evening at a nearby racing track for late models and modifieds. That was when *I knew* I was gonna (try to) see more of her for certain.

There is 60 miles of Connecticut pavement between her and I. Sometimes it seems like 600 to me, but all the weekends have been a joy, and we manage to put ourselves together with plans all the time.......

She has a son who just graduated from college....he's a good one, and we get along great. My daughters, now 13 and 15 enjoy, their presence with Lynn and I mostly...they all like each other and that makes her and I happy too.

Lynn and I had talked once, about feeling like we knew each other for a long lime. Sort of like our paths having crossed before. One such conversation, early in our emails, had us discovering that we had been places at the same time. An example of this was how we had each attended a rock festival in upstate New York. No, not Woodstock, but 'Summer Jam' with the Allman Bros. and Grateful Dead, in 1973. We were two of many (estimated 750,000) people. But, learning this coincidental fact simply emphasized some of our similarities.

We have traveled together to a few places.....Rhode Island, Maine, Myrtle Beach, and the Poconos in PA. We're having plenty of fun together. I want to try to create a sort of travelogue on my webpage eventually, commenting on these places we've been and the pros and cons, of sorts, of those areas. We also like visiting the Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard. We have lots of laughs watching each other win and lose.

Lynn and I are truly in love.....and our relationship has grown close as a result of knowing each other online at first for awhile, then sharing ourselves slowly. I can't imagine myself now without her.

So.....that'll have to be it for now, Donna.

I hope you aren't disappointed that it doesn't sound like a steamy soap opera. :-)

Take care, and we'll be watching your page for future comments.

Dissapointed? I am so happy for you both. Your's is the kind of story people dream of having. Thank you for sharing. I wish you both all the happiness in the world. I think you have a good head start.

The reason I put the contents of your e-mail as your story is that I could not have rewritten it any better. Thank you for sharing.

(And I still regret leaving the east coast without ever having the chance for us to meet 'face to face'.)

Dennis Lynn
