Be careful, this page is under constant 'mis'construction and the overworked, underpaid crew is on a much deserved coffee break at Cafe Du Monde in the famous French Quarter of New Orleans. Have a seat, order a cup of cafe' au lait and an order of beignets (pronounced ben' yeas) I know you'll love them.
Back to the page,
Katrina came for a visit in August 2005.
New Orleans has changed and will never be the same. Not talking about the land marks, the French Quarter or anything you can touch or see. I think it is the heart and soul of the city that has been affected. Maybe in time it will heal. A long, long time....
Course New Orleans wasn't the only area affected, all the surrounding areas, ALL OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST and some of the Alabama Gulf coast. Please realize that while New Orleans was sitting in toxic sludge, Mississippi folks were just as bad off. We have a new word to add to the dictionary; 'slabbed' meaning you come back, your house is gone and you have nothing left except an empty concrete slab or maybe your neighbors house laying across it.
Pray for those souls that perished, their loved ones, pray for those that were able to evacuate and find safe haven only to come back to nothing. Say a prayer of thanks for those that have no damage or losses. Be thankful for what you have and most of all, who you have.
