Bonnie Inouye |
I began weaving in 1967 and built my first looms. Now I create scarves, shawls, vests, and throws, designing each piece on a computer. I use two 16-shaft AVL compu-dobby looms when in Colorado and a 24-shaft, 48" AVL in Maryland. Woven images, smoothly flowing lines, shaded curves, many blended colors and non-repeating treadlings characterize my work. I like to encourage other weavers to make their own drafts, helping through teaching, writing for magazines and creating a book on multishaft design. Now available, the book is called Exploring Multishaft Design. It is a workshop that you take at home, with 10 chapters and 128 pages. Click here to learn more about it.
My work has won many awards, most recently the Complex Weavers Award at the Fiber Celebrated Show in Durango, CO in July, 2007. I still produce some work for sale, but my focus has shifted to teaching workshops. I have taught in many states and in eight countries so far. I also write articles for weaving magazines and give programs for guilds.
