Wild Cherry and Ceramic Tile
Chess Board (August 1995)
This Chess Board
is made of wood from a Wild
Cherry tree that
I cut down. The logs were allowed to air dry for
nearly a year
before sawing it into rough boards and another 3
years before it
was planned to size to make a night stand. This piece
was made
out of some of the scraps some years later. |
|
The playing field is
made of 2'' ceramic tiles and the center bar
and banding is made from a ¼'' strip of White Oak.
The tiles were
laid and grouted to a piece of ½'' exterior plywood. |
