Southern Black Cultural Alliance Regional Exhibitions:
An alliance of African American theater companies, dance companies and writers from the seven southern states. Founded by the director of The Theater of Afro Arts of Miami, Wendell Narcisse in 1975. From 1976-1984 three-day conferences and festivals featuring groups from though out the country were held in different southern cities. The last conference was held in 1984 in Atlanta at Clark College and was organized by Sálongo Lee. Unfortunately there was a fire at The Theater of Afro Arts in 1985 and all records and photos were destroyed. Some of the groups involved were: "M' Ensemble of Miami, Dashiki Theater Company, Free Southern Theater Company and Ethiopian Theater Company of New Orleans. Beal Street Repertory of Memphis, Karamu House of Cleveland and The Black Fire Dance Company of Birmingham.
