Elizabeth was born "Lizzie M. Hiebert" but her husband thought her name sounded too much like a car. So he decided to call her Elizabeth. The night before their wedding the roads were completed covered with snow from a winter blizzard. Her brothers worked hard all day using horses and farm instruments to get the roads open. They cleared the roads just in time and were able to attend Elizabeth's wedding.
