THE TREASURE CHEST

There are people in the world who are true treasures. The kind of people you hold close to your heart and never let go. They are the rarest jewels in the universe, far more valuable than any diamond you could put your hands on. One of those people is Nibbles. We met here on the internet and spent the last 10 days together. What an experience! Ours is a positive one of people meeting, sharing great times & just being great friends. Nibbles is the kind of person who opens her heart and will give you the shirt off her back. If you ever have the opportunity to talk to her, you will learn the same thing.

The ocean waves heard on this page are a reminder of the day we spent at York Beach, Maine. I took her to this beach because it is my favorite place in the entire world. When I was a child, my grandfather would sit with me on the beach at night and teach me how to respect the ocean. Nibbles comes from Canada and she had never been to the ocean before. I was so glad that I could share this particular place with her. She is one of the very few I have brought here. We visited my aunt at the Long Sands section of the beach, took pictures of Nubble Light and went to see the taffy pulling at The Goldenrod.

Before she left to go home, she wrote the following poem for my boyfriend Stryker & I. I cried my eyes out when I read it. This is the most precious treasure she could have given us, besides being our friend.

FRIENDS

When I close my eyes
I think to myself
What would I want for a friend?
Images would come and go
But two would stay
I see the images so clear
I reach to hold them
For they are something
Every person dreams of
To have them and to hold them
To bring them to life
You ask for a friend
And you see two
I open my eyes
To see them two special friends
And I ask if this is a dream,
Blink, my eyes open
And there stand those two special friends
The two of you
What more could I have asked for?
God blessed me and I now have the two of you

Nibbles...you are a joy to my heart. I'm sending ice cream thoughts your way!
