Other Eyes

"Tender is the Night" Underneath the April Rain My First Love

Other Eyes

When one at last denies his past
To honor and obey with furvor and sighs
You swear her eyes are brighter than you can say
She says, "How nice," and she blushes twice
On compliments she's fed
but you know well, you'll never tell
Of ghosts that aren't quite dead
A lot of things you've left unsaid

The love of old that once unfold
The heart with tender bliss
Are folded away with dreams of the day
That smiled on another's kiss
The songs and sighs of the other eyes
Have sung and sighed their last
But in your breast though unconfessed
Your heart could still beat fast
For all the youthful romance past

Tell her of the other eyes that call you in the night
Tell her of the other eyes that call you in the night, dark night

Eyes of sadness, eyes of gladness, past delight
Eyes of sadness, eyes of gladness, past delight, her tears still shining

Ne'er forgetting, half regretting other sunny skies
Ne'er forgetting, half regretting other sunny skies, ne'er fading

How they haunt you, seem to want you, other eyes
How they haunt you, seem to want you, other eyes
