Pipa Concerto "Lady Hua Mu Lan":
According
to a poem from North Dynasty (361-581A.D.), there existed a patriotic heroine
out of the ordinary who is named Hua Mu Lan. She disguised herself
as a man and substituted her father to join the army. This piece
of pipa concerto is composed (by Gu Guan Ren) based on the story.
Er-Hu concerto: Parting of a newly-wedded couple:
This
piece of music is composed based on the peom by Du Fu on the An-Shi Rebellion.
The Tang court sent pressgangs to press men into military service.
A conscript who was married only the night before was bidding farewell
to his wife who stood gazing in tears.
This
is not that kind of music I usually explore into. However, its uniqueness
and serenity, has left me with great appreciation. Here's a short
part which I liked best. Enjoy...
