A changling, she was discovered the morning after the
Lady deRocinante had given birth to twin boys. The
smallest babe, Claudio, had vanished...Kivrin was
left in his place. Although they searched for
months, no sign of the missing child was ever found.
The deRocinante's, Lady Kiera and Lord Sebast, being
kind-hearted folk, besides quickly falling in love
with the tiny infant, raised Kiv as their own,
alongside the remaining twin, Beckett. As the
children matured, Beckett grew to resent his adopted
sister...hating her for replacing the twin he had
never known, hating her for becoming the light which
lit his parents' eyes. At the tender age of fifteen,
Beckett flew into a rage, killing both his parents,
and then fleeing into the night. Knowing he would
return for her, and fearing for the lives of the
townspeople, Kiv left Panacea the next day, her heart
filled with grief and pain, her best friend Tanith by
her side.
Eventually, after many travels and adventures, she
found her way to Ravensdale, where she has made her
home ever since. She returns often to Panacea though,
for both business and pleasure.
She is married to Lord Maw, Keeper of Souls. They
share a soul bond, as evidenced by the soul crystal
which hangs about her neck by a fine silver chain.
The crystal contains her entire soul, as an
unfortunate run-in with Diablous left her for dead,
her soul hanging by the mere thread of love which
tied her to Maw. 'Twas he who deposited the whole of
her essense within the crystal, unable to live
without her.
Maw and Kivrin share a daughter, Luca. And yet,
things are not as they should be. Maw, his heart
filled with blind jealousy, wrongly believes Kivrin's
friend, Kardis, to be the father of the child. In
spiteful anger, Maw took the child from Kivrin the
day of her birth, fostering her out to another
family, and placing a curse upon them lest they give
the baby back to Kivrin. Everyday, Kivrin fights for
her child, knowing within her heart that, someday,
Luca will again be returned to her.
She is a High Mage of the Goddess, and carries within
her heart wild magick, untamed. Using her "gifts"
only when necessary, she has no idea of the true
scope of her magikal abilities, nor from whence they
came.
