POT CART
The full-size original of this model is housed in Gordon Boswell's family museum in Lincolnshire. The original was built by that well-known vehicle builder from Leeds, Bill Wright. The vehicle's name describes its use. Known variously as a pot cart or waggon, it was built to carry crockery and ' pots' from the Potteries, which were then sold, throughout the countryside and at fairs and other markets.
The Pot Cart is like all gypsy vehicles highly decorated in the traditional styles and colours. When viewed from the side the Pot cart's boat shape can be clearly seen. This boat shape with its many compound angles makes the model maker's task more difficult and demanding. Thus a time consuming model to build and decorate.
