KNIFE GRINDERS BARROW

This Barrow is in Poulter's Romany Museum, Ower in Hampshire.  It is not a scaled model, as I was not allowed to get too close.  I took some photo's that enabled me to make it.  It is the best of its kind that I've seen in the Gypsy style.

This type of Grinder was a common sight in villages, lanes, town streets and at Fair by-ways. - Sharpening knives, scissors, shears and scythes.

Maids from town houses brought out cutlery to be "buffed up" by the Pedlar and especially the old pieces of silver.
