Back to our roots

I thoroughly enjoyed the bluegrass show that featured two excellent local bands.
Hats off to Kelver Stiltner for coordinating the band shows.

South Mountain Bluegrass Boys featured above: Scott Deel-mandolin/guitar/electric bass, Danny Hackney-Banjo, Tommy Owens-guitar/mandolin, and Anthony Oquinn-electric bass. This band came out first, and was very good.   I was told Danny just plays the banjo, no singin' or nothin' else, but I have a soft spot for the banjo and he did a great job, they all did.

Frank Hammond and the Old Time Bluegrass pictured above was the finishing touch to a wonderful evening of back to our bluegrass roots.   When he came on stage the first thought through my mind when I seen those hats was, "Bill Monroe." Winford Reed-mandolin, Tim Justice-bass, and of course Danny Hackney-banjo (my favorite instrument).
