This exercise will enable students to learn safe methods of negotiating
water obstacles encountered during Tracking Operation.
KIM'S GAME
In Law Enforcement, we are taught to get the job done correctly as fast
as possible in order to resume patrol or answer other calls. Kim's Game is an exercise
designed to slow the student's mind down and pick out details normally missed. This is
accomplished in two phases. First, they will observe a number of items for a specified
time and then describe them. Second, a number of items will be placed in a tree line
and students will find them using optical devices.
SURVIVAL SHELTERS & EQUIPMENT
This exercise will enable students to build an expedient shelter needed to
sit out extreme weather conditions. Basic Wilderness Survival Techniques will also
be explained in detail. Equipment normally carried by a Tracking Team will be shown and
explained.
COMPASS COURSE
This part of the curriculum is designed to familiarize the students with
the use of map and compass.
BOOBY TRAPS
This exercise is designed to show the student types of booby trap devices
which may be encountered at or around marijuana fields. For
safety reasons, firecracker type traps will be used on the practical.
TRACKING
Practical application of Visual Tracking Techniques, day and night.
STEALTH MOVEMENT
This exercise is designed to teach the student proper use of camouflage and
to show the stalking techniques used in the closure phase with a suspect. The practical
allows the student to evaluate their skills and equipment.
RAPPELLING
This section of the course teaches the student basic rappelling procedures.
