These averages  should be used only as a guide since there are many factors that dictate how these averages are determined.  So please don't quote me on these numbers and get me in trouble.  Depending on when you hit the waiting list, it can be weeks, even days after you arrive that you are offered quarters.  At the same time, it could be years if you're holding out for a specific type of quarters like a house.  These averages are only to get you thinking that you may need to move out in town.  By reviewing the TLA LINK,  HOUSING and the OFF BASE COST LINKS, you should be preparing for the worst and be happy with the best.  Housing is tight here on Okinawa, but in my experience, rotating to Okinawa during the May through July timeframe, the housing list can move quickly.  Which means there are also plenty of good quality quarters offered off base as well.
