Harald BluetoothI don't know much about Harald, but he is my favorite viking of all. Mostly because of his name. He died around 985 and was king of Denmark from 940-85. His parents were King Gorm den Gamle and Queen Thyra Danebod. On the Jelling Stone, which he erected for his parents, it says in runic inscriptions, "that Harald who won for himself all Denmark and Norway, and made the Danes Christian". He was baptized in 960. During a rebellion by his son Sweyn Forkbeard he was fatally wounded. I read somewhere he got the name "bluetooth" because he never brushed his teeth. |
