VETS FROM PRAB YOU WOULD LIKE
TO GET BACK IN CONTACT WITH:
I have several: Dennis Worhle, Ed and Bruce Jackson, Phil Sommerlot,
and LT Scott Madsen (an F-100 pilot from my hometown of Mentor,Ohio).

WHAT WERE YOUR
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
                      AT PRAB:
Working the Alert Pad. The planes kept at the pad were
fully armed and loaded and the pilots slept in the same
building as where the aircraft were stored. I felt like
I was really doing something to help someone who was in
need of air support since the planes only had one radio
and if it was bad it needed to be repaired or replaced
quickly or the plane couldn't go on it's mission.

YOUR BEST MEMORIES
                           OF PRAB:
The best and by far the funniest for me is when SSGT Dennis Worhle
and I were working on a radio problem on an F100F (two seater) in
one of the last revetments furthest out from anything. I had just
gotten down out of the cockpit and was on the ground while Dennis
was just starting to climb out of the cockpit. At that moment we
heard a very loud bang and thinking it was a rocket attack I hit
the ground and Dennis made like a part of the side of the plane.
After a few seconds we heard a very loud hissing sound and realized
it was coming from one of the tires on the power unit that had
exploded apparently from being over inflated on a very hot day.

Also enjoyed the BBQ's at the 35th AMS Patio.
Good food and drink with AMS troops that weren't on duty.

This is not a memory of PRAB but of leaving it.
I was part of the support team that brought the F100s back to the
states. We got to spend a month in Guam that was a lay over point
for the planes which was like a paradise compared to Vietnam and
having been away from home for so long. A couple of us rented a car
and drove all around the island and even found a McDonalds. We went
hiking back in the hills and found the remains of a couple of tanks
that were destroyed during WWII. And there was a really fantastic
beach to go swimming at. Kind of a nice break from the day to day
routine at PRAB and a way to be ready for actually getting home.
