View Guest Book Sign Guest Book	 Post History The American Legion was formed in March 1919 by veterans of the American Expeditionary Forces following World War I. From temporary headquarters in New York City, the Legion immediately began its relief, employment and Americanism programs. Waymart American Legion Post 889 was formed in 1946 by returning veterans of World War II recieving its Charter in January 1947. The Charter Members choose the American Legion so they could better serve all the veterans returning from theWar not just those who were served overseas.
Post 889 is a member of several Webrings.
