California based HMM-764, is the senior Marine Reserve helicopter squadron. HMM-764 has been located at several locations in southern California during its history; Los Alamitos, El Toro, and finally Edwards AFB.
The squadron was activated during Desert Shield/Storm, but not deployed. In 2004, HMM-764 was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.

HELICOPTER TRANSPORT SQUADRON 764 (HMR-764).
Redesignated 1 April
1962 as MARINE MEDIUM HELICOPTER SQUADRON 764 (HMM-764).
