MALS-39
"Magicians"
MALS-39 was originally activated in 1968 as (Provisional) Headquarters and Maintenence Squadron 39, and provided administrative and logistical support to the squadrons of (Prov)MAG-39. H&MS-39 was deactivated in 1969. In 1978 H&MS-39 was reactivated at Camp Pendleton. H&MS-39 was redesignated MALS-39 in 1988. The squadron is tasked with providing Intermediate-level maintenance and administrative support for the squadrons of MAG-39. MALS-39 supports the UH-1N, AH-1W, and CH-46E.

Activated 14 April 1968 at Quang Tri, Republic
of Vietnam, as (Provisional) Headquarters and Maintenance
Squadron 39, (Provisional) Marine Aircraft Group 39, 1st Marine
Aircraft Wing.
Relocated during October 1969 to Phu Bai.
Deactivated 31 October 1969.
Reactivated 1 September 1978 at Camp Pendleton, California, as
Headquarters and Maintenance Squadron 39, Marine Aircraft Group
39, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing.
(redesignation of Detachment, H&MS-16)
Redesignated 1988 as Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39.
Participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom (Mar-Apr 2003).
