Marine Tiltrotor Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 22
VMX-22

VMX-22 was activated 28 August 2003 at New River, North Carolina, and is a joint USMC/USAF Test and Development Squadron. Its mission is to conduct operational testing and evaluation of the MV/CV-22 "Osprey" and future tiltrotor systems. VMX-22 is slated to operate up to 16 aircraft, including 4 for operational evaluation. Home base for the squadron is MCAS New River, North Carolina.
