From 21 to 23 November 2003, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day . I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days for Del Mar to the Embarcadero in San Diego with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust.

According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation this year:
·    Over 200,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed.
·    Almost 40,000 women will die from breast cancer.
·    Approximately 1,300 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
·    More than 400 men will die from breast cancer.
·    Roughly 3,000,000 people have breast cancer in the U.S.
·    1,000,000 of them don’t know it!
That's why I'm walking so far.
To increase awareness, to support early detection, to help find a cure…

I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me - by supporting me in my fundraising efforts. Every walker has agreed to raise at least $2,000 in donations before the walk. Would you please consider making a contribution?  Click on Support to find out how to help. Please keep in mind how far I'm walking - and how hard I'll have to train.

I'm also part of a team - Team Navy Chicks -  I hope to have Navy women, Navy Breast Cancer Survivors, Navy wives, and Navy moms join us as well.  Alone, 60 miles is forever and $2000 is an enormous amount. As a team the miles will fly by and our fundraising goals, although compounded, will seem easier.   It will be an experience none of us will soon forget.

Thanks for your support
Carrie
