The P4M Mercator, VQ-2s first aircraft circa 1959 when the squadron was in Morroco.
Here is something for the record books...The Connie's ahead of the others...must be a faked photo. The Connie was so-o-o slow that it took Bird Strikes......from behind! I will admit that having ridden a P3, the Connie rode better....and the steak and eggs were delicious. Anyone remember the Hurricane off Cuba? Remember the hairy day that we needed Phantoms to escort us back to Boca Chica?
Below: Here's that BOQ bird again. It has the new (1967) Sandman emblem. Well, our bat was from a Bacardi bottle, why not a wine bottler as a replacement. (I still like ours better, though)
Below: A VAP A3...their Plane Captains obviously were not as good as ours. Looks like they needed too much time to get the plane ready for flight.
