Slade Runner

Slade was whelped on August 2, 1997 and came home Sept. 7. We were his third owner in three days and he was a very lonely puppy when we got him. He weighed 6 pounds at 6 weeks, but quickly grew to the whopping 75 pounds he is today.

Slade's accomplishments include winning first place in the 1998 Yuma Kennel Club puppy match for his class (he was the only one in his class), failing his first attempt at the Canine Good Citizen test because the pretty Shelty he had to walk by was just TOO pretty, and winning the costume contest at the East County Animal Guradian Angels' Day at the Park in Wellton, Ariz. He was dressed as Super Dog, complete with chest plate, belt and cape.

Slade has fallen in love with a red rubber squeaker ball that came free with a purchase from JB Pet Supplies. He "talks" to it, whines in sync with it and drives his Daddy crazy! Had we only known that a free toy would keep him so occupied, we could have saved ourselves hundreds of dollars in chewies, fuzzy squeakers and tennis balls!
