Exactness is not assured when initially matching a found notice to your lost pet because the notice contains only information as viewed by another person who may not know anything about your pet.  Tan is brown, is cream, is rust, is red, is... well, you get the picture.  One person's Beagle mix is another person's Hound mix, is a Rottweiler mix, etc.  Any notice of pet even remotely like yours is a good place to start.  If the location is wrong or the sex or age are wrong, call anyway.  If the colors are vague or missing, call anyway.  If the collar color or type is wrong, call anyway, because collars come and go.  If the age is wrong, call anyway... 7 can be 7 weeks, months or years, or just a mistake from a bad guess.  It's all in the eye of the beholder, so call.

Our family has a dog which was found in the Joliet/Plainfield/Crest Hill area.  She is female and appears to be a cock-a-poo.  She appears to be around 2-3 years old and was found without any collar or tags.  She is whitish-golden in color, stands about 14" tall, and is very gentle and sweet.  She is thin but probably weighs 15-17 pounds.  Please contact Patricia at Docpatty14@aol.com  if anyone is missing this beautiful dog.

FEMALE SCHNAUZER - CICERO
My Sister-in-Law, Linda, is with Schnauzer Rescue.  She was referred by a vet to a woman in Cicero who found a female schnauzer and could not identify its owner. The dog was found in Cicero...we are unclear about the date...possibly since July 16, 2002.   She is now in Oswego with Linda who can be reached at (630) 554-1875.  This female is small, about 12" high,  though a bit overweight.  She has dainty legs and paws.  Her ears are cropped.  She is mostly silver with white and gray.  Her teeth are in good condition and she appears to have been well groomed.  This is why we feel she is lost and not cast out.  Her eyes are runny and she appears to have skin allergies.  Very sweet disposition.  She is happy and well cared for until the owner, who undoubtedly misses her, comes forward.  guill@ntsource.com

She was found on Route 59 and Brookdale in Naperville. She looks like a
rat terrier and basset mix. White with 3 big spots and one small one on her back. Dark face and tail that looks as if it has been dipped half way in a paint bucket.  She has a flea collar and tri colored snap collar on. June 11, 2002, I found a female German Shepherd puppy, approximately 9 months to a year old. She doesn't look to be a mix of anything else and looks to be a thoroughbred German Shepherd. I found her in the parking lot of Russell's BarBQ at the corner of Harlem and Thatcher in River Forest. She is very well behaved and knows the commands of "sit" and "lay down." I saw a dog on the street on March 18, 2001 and it looked kind of scraggly so I thought I would send this note, in case someone recognizes their dog. I do not have the dog, but I saw it around Grace and Laramie in Chicago at about 1 p.m. It was small, maybe a Yorky (?) or Yorky mix, and it was sort of a light rust color. It did have some sort of collar with at least one tag. I did not see a dog matching this description in the ads, but I thought you might want to post this anyway. On December 27, 2000 the Evanston Animal Control found an adult male German Shepherd tied up behind our local sledding hill in James Park. They called to have me ID him, in case it was my ONYX (already listed as missing on your site). This was not my dog, but he is so sweet and loving, we adopted him. However, we realize how long it can take to locate a missing dog and would certainly return him to his rightful owner. He is a smallish (75pounds) black & tan sable-coated neutered male. GERMAN SHEPHERD/GOLDEN RETRIEVER - TINLEY PARK AREA
I know of a found pet. I am not sure if my neighbor has reported it or not, but I felt I needed to because I hear him crying every day and am totally heartsick for him.  It is a male, mix of a German Shepard and Golden Retriever. The neighbor did have him at the vets office, which she was nearby when she found him, and the age was approximately 12 years. I don't know the exact location where she found him, but I know that it was the south suburbs of Chicago. Somewhere near Tinley Park, which is where he is now. Very sweet dog. Seems quiet or sad. He has a very interesting, but beautiful of course, look to him. If anyone replies to this posting...that is what they must describe.  Someone may be looking for their lost pet, so PLEASE help me to find them. I live in the Oak Park area and am "fostering" a dog I found last year around November 1999. He's a neutered male border collie mix. He was found "wandering" around Chicago avenue and Oak Park Avenue intersection. He had no collar or tags. I will only release him if original owners give a VERY thorough "description" of him.
